Description
SARUK
Early 20th century, western Persia origin, wool fleece on cotton weave.
The town of Saruk, in the Ferahan area, is famous for a "modern" carpet production, which arose in the second half of the 19th century and mainly intended for export to America. Even a particular type of these rugs, with a purplish red background and a dense floral design, mainly without a central medallion, was so successful in the United States of the early 1900s, that even today these specimens are called: "American Saruk. ".
The specimen opposite belongs to this family, with a small central medallion that blends with the rest of the field. The whole is enhanced by the almost square dimension that allows you to give a wide breath to the composition.
